Name:
Airmed Gender: she/her Species: Unicorn, Equus (desert region) |
Height:
16 hands Age: 200 (IRL equine breed: Appaloosa) |
Appearance: Airmed's white coat is flecked with irregular spots of brown and red-brown. These spots are more concentrated on her front legs and face, almost but not quite entirely covering her face with large brown splotches. Her mane is almost pure white with only a few strands of black, while her tail is black and white. She has a fairly compact and muscular build, with a slightly dished face. Between her nostrils is a pinkish patch, showing off some of the mottling of her skin in her thinly haired muzzle. Only one of her crescent shaped, single-toed hooves is a solid light color, with the rest being vertically striped with dark and light colors.

Personality: Airmed is a light hearted and caring mare. While it may seem a bit naive at first, she tries to see the best in everyone. She does understand, however, that sometimes people are not always at their best, nor is one's "best" always "good." She likes to be helpful, and can often be found with her herd or the others her herd is with, tending to the sick, or helping with heavy burdens.
Abilities: Airmed is something of an herbalist and a healer. She has studied herbalism most of her life, having become fascinated by the effects of different plants on one's body when she was told as a foal "don't eat that" about one plant and "eat this" about another (particularly whenever she got sick). She uses this knowledge in cooking as well as healing, often combining the two in order to help her friends stay healthy, or get better when they are injured or sick.
She also has a modicum of ability to manipulate energy, particularly the reiatsu of her patients. This manifests in the form of energy healing by touch, chanting, rhythmic music, or any combination thereof. Her soft singing voice has an unusual calming effect, beyond that of a mother's lullaby to her foal. She is able to run her muzzle or a hoof over a patient's body and find the area their energy is unbalanced, whether due to a physical or spiritual cause, and can begin working on the energy as she prepares her herbal remedies.
Both her herbal and reiatsu healing abilities are limited greatly however - if a patient is too far gone, an illness or injury too severe, or a patient is too unwilling to be healed, she has reached her limits and can only do her best to make them comfortable as they pass on or as they learn to live with their pains, whether it be a lost limb, chronic illness, or a fractured mind. Her healing skills also take time - they are not instantaneous, even if the issue is minimal or the patient is very willing. As an example, splinters do not magically disappear with the pricked skin fully healed - the splinter must be carefully removed and the wound treated with antiseptic herbs for it to fully heal within a couple of days or so. The oils of certain herbs must be applied gently and their aromas inhaled by a calmed patient in order for them to help cure a headache.
