Appearance: While Karai is an average height for a Pegasus at about fourteen hands, he has more well-defined muscles than most of his more delicately shaped kin, and slender but strong legs. His face is slightly dished, with large, flaring nostrils, a result of generations in the dry desert. His coat boasts no markings, and is instead a solid creamy golden palomino color, sleek during the warm and dry seasons, and a bit shaggy during the cold and wet seasons. His mane and tail hair are a lighter cream color, almost but not quite white. Both tend to be long and flowing, hinting at a wildness to the equine. His light brown to tan crescent shaped, single-toed hooves are hard and tough, serving him well in his desert home... whenever he is found on the ground, that is. He is often found soaring through the sky, his large feathered wings carrying him many miles on the air currents. These wings match the color of his mane and tail, and it is often difficult to separate the two, were it not for the rougher texture of the hair. His eyes are large, deep pools of soulful blue, which are frequently compared to the sky he loves so much.

Personality: Karai is an easy-going equine, preferring to explore and have fun adventures over fighting or fierce competitions. That's not to say he won't run in a race, just that he doesn't get involved with rivalries and will instead simply fly away to avoid more heated competitions. When his herd needs him, however, he will do what he has to in order to support the lead stallion.
Abilities: In addition to the natural magic of the Pegasus which aids in their ability to fly, Karai's ancestry as a desert-dwelling Pegasus helps him withstand the harsh environment of his home. Where other Pegasi might feel too hot or too cold, Karai's physiology is perfectly adapted... perhaps not to the level of complete comfort, but at least to the point where he can tolerate the extreme weather changes. He is also able to survive on less water than other breeds, and finds sustenance in less-palatable plants when necessary. Like most of his desert relatives, Karai is attuned to certain elemental magics, most particularly that of Air. He primarily uses this skill while flying or running, manipulating the air currents to give him a tailwind, propelling him forward more rapidly than he would normally be able to achieve. He can also use this to create a gentle breeze around his herd on particularly dry, warm days. If he's feeling particularly arrogant, flirtatious, or even perhaps a bit silly, he will also use his ability to ruffle his mane up, making it appear like he's running, though he is obviously standing still. This air current manipulation can be draining if used to much, however, and he must use it sparingly if there is no guarantee of a watering hole nearby. |
On the more powerful side of his elemental affinity, Karai is also able to summon whirlwinds everything from a small dust devil to huge tornados. His favored method of doing so is to kick up some dust while running, then suddenly take off in a vertical leap, furiously beating his wings. This forces even more dust up into the air around him, which he then manipulates into a whirlwind as he spirals ever higher. He can also do this in the air, using his tail and wings to gather clouds together to form a funnel cloud as he spirals downward. Once the whirlwind is fully formed to his liking, he breaks off his spiral, still manipulating the wind in his wake, but from a generally safe distance. This is a very difficult and dangerous move, however, and he does it sparingly. If he is not careful, he can get caught up in his own conjured wind, and spin out of control and into the tornado. Left to its own devices, the tornado may suddenly disappear, suddenly plummeting anything inside of it to the ground, or it may continue to spin on its own accord, wreaking havoc on the area. If the latter happens, Karai is generally unable to regain control of the wild tornado, especially if he does not want to risk getting caught in it. In addition to the danger, this also takes a lot of energy, and he can risk collapsing from exhaustion if he keeps it going for too long a time.
